- ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Florian Faust is the fifth generation of his family to run their 17.5 hectare estate. The estate is located in Westhofen, with vines in three of the most prestigious vineyards around the village: Kirchspiel, Morstein and Steingrube. This area of the Rheinhessen is characterized by limestone soils, which give the wines richness and a firm structure, but also great fruit purity and a saline minerality. The Rheinhessen is Germany's driest wine-producing region, and also its sunniest, which adds to the concentration and extract found in many of the region's wines. For Florian, most of his work is done in the vineyard, making sure the ripeness and phenolic complexity is there, without the corresponding alcohol and glycerol heft.
