Mulline 'Sutherlands Creek' Pinot Noir 2024

  • TASTING NOTE: "A single-vineyard wine planted with MV6 and Abel clones in the late '90s; 20% whole bunches. A bright crimson. Elegant and restrained with aromas of red cherry, rose petals and spices such as Sichuan pepper and star anise together with a little new-oak pencil-shaving scents. The palate is similarly elegant and fine boned and I like the way this keeps building as it sits in the glass. The tannins are superfine and persistent. The most reticent, perhaps, of the five single-vineyard wines but a wine that will no doubt age superbly. Closure: Screw cap. 12.5% alcohol. (Drink by 2032)96 Points - Phillip Rich, Halliday
  • ABOUT THE WINE: Fruit is sourced from the Strathmore vineyard from vines planted in 1998, grown in brown and clay loams, with granite. 30% whole bunch, 25% new French oak, eight months in barrel.
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER: Winemaker Ben Mullen and business partner Ben Hine are the minds behind Mulline. Ben has a packed CV of wine making jobs (Leeuwin Estate, Domaine Dujac, Craggy Range just to name a few) and after his last gig as head winemaker at Clyde Park wines he decided to go out on his own, but stick with the region he had come to love. Working with trusted growers who work organically, the Mulline teams focus a stunning range of single vineyard Chardonnay's and Pinot's that highlight the sub-regional characteristics of the Geelong region, as well as a range of expressive regional wines that offer great value.
