Red Claw Pinot Noir 2025
- TASTING NOTE: Characteristic perfumed, fragrant aromas highlighted by cherry and red fruits, complemented by a touch of spice and underlying French oak. The long, silky palate has lovely elegance and delicacy, a plush, velvety texture and a finely poised finish.
- ABOUT THE WINE: Red Claw wines are hand crafted with fruit from Yabby Lake’s own vineyards. The wines are made following the same principles that guide the single vineyard wines. With Red Claw the emphasis is on making wines that are bright, juicy and more expressive when young. Handpicked between 20 February - 30 March, with each parcel handled separately in the winery. Hand sorted and carefully destemmed with 10% whole bunches, each parcel went into traditional open fermenters. The wine underwent three days of cold soaking to ensure even and thorough extraction. Batches were on skins for 7-10 days, after which time they were transferred into French oak (500L puncheons) for 10 months, the blend was then assembled and bottled in November 2025. A blend of pinot noir clones MV6, G5V15, 115, 667, ABEL, D4V2, and 114. (Alc 13%)

ABOUT THE PRODUCER: After a long search of the Mornington Peninsula during the mid-1990’s, the Kirby family found the ideal parcel of land in Tuerong, located in the north of the peninsula. After thorough soil surveys, and careful mapping and planning of this special site, the vineyard was planted in 1998, a feat overseen by founding viticulturist Keith Harris. At Yabby Lake, we’re focused on crafting wines of great purity, that provide a clear insight into not only where they come from, but also the season they were grown. It’s the attention and care in the vineyard that is most critical to allowing this expression. Our vineyard is worked and cared for by our diligent vineyard team and take meticulous measures to keep the vineyard at its finest, hand pruning each and every vine during winter, and handpicking the fruit they bear come harvest in the summer. Working with winemakers Tom, Luke and Thomas, and following in the footsteps of founding viticulturists Keith Harris and Martin Sampson, the knowledge and dedication to this site are critical to allowing this special vineyard to reach its potential.
