Christophe Patrice Chardonnay 2023

  • TASTING NOTE: This Chardonnay, produced from grapes sourced just outside of the Chablis appellation boundary, evokes the essence of a Petit Chablis, featuring a flavour profile of green apple and melon notes, alongside mineral tones and a dry saline character with crisp acidity,
  • ABOUT THE WINE: 100% Chardonnay sourced from growers located just beyond the Chablis appellation boundary gently whole-bunch pressed before undergoing a cool fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. To enhance complexity and body, lees from his Chablis wines are judiciously incorporated into this cuvée, resulting in a wine that is both generous and immediately captivating. Following fermentation, the wine is racked off its lees and matures in tank for four months, retaining its vibrancy without undergoing malolactic conversion.
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER:  Hailing from Beine in the esteemed Chablis region, Christophe Patrice embarked on his winemaking journey alongside his father and uncles in 1996, eventually branching out to establish his own domaine in 2006, initially cultivating five hectares of vines. A pivotal moment occurred in 2011 when he acquired the Daniel Roblot estate, expanding his vineyard holdings to 22 hectares, boasting vines aged between 50 to 70 years. Today, his domaine sprawls across the communes of Beine, Courgis, and Chablis, crafting an array of exceptional wines including Petit Chablis, Chablis, and Chablis Premier Cru Beauregard. With a commitment to sustainable practices, Christophe maintains low vine density of 5,800 vines per hectare, believing that the unique terroir of Chablis allows Chardonnay to express its true essence like no other place. To preserve the inherent characteristics and freshness of the grapes, he adamantly vinifies his wines exclusively in stainless steel tanks.
