Domaine de la Vougeraie Bonnes Mares Grand Cru 2017

  • TASTING NOTE: "The 2017 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a generous bouquet, the discreet stem addition lending an attractive leafiness that complements the brambly re fruit. More undergrowth scents emerge with time. The palate is silky-smooth on the entry, very plush but controlled, and despite the opulence, terroir floods through this Bonnes-Mares, which fans out wonderfully on the finish. This is an impressive showing and one of the best from the domaine this vintage. A long-term prospect. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting" 95 POINTS - NEAL MARTIN, VINOUS (SEPT 2021)
  • ABOUT THE WINE: Fruit is sourced from two parcels from within Bonnes Mares. 100% whole bunch, natural fermentation, maceration 21 days. Cap-punched once a day until mid-fermentation and light pumping-over until the end of maceration Aged 16 months in 40% new Tronçais and CĂŽteaux oak. No fining, lightly filtered before bottling.
  • ABOUT THE PRODUCER: The Domaine de la Vougeraie was created in 1999, combining the family property of Jean-Claude Boisset and his children and successors Nathalie and Jean-Charles. The aim at La Vougeraie is to reveal the excellence of each terroir. This exacting philosophy was clear from the start through the choice of organic cultivation, marking a return to the living soil in a quest for the purest wines. Soon after, they took the first step into biodynamic practices, gradually adopting a more holistic vision. Today Vougeraie is a very large domain with a patchwork of 74 plots covering 52 hectares make up the estate, two-thirds on the CĂ´te de Nuits, one-third on the CĂ´te de Beaune, together producing 41 appellations. At the heart of this is the the legendary Premier Cru monopole, Le Clos Blanc de Vougeot.
